What made you want to work with Greg?
Before I started working with Greg, I had been doing things on my own for a really long time and I just was ready for some extra support. I needed somebody who could see what I couldn't see. Initially I thought I really needed help with very specific things regarding how I structured certain processes. But our work together ended up being a lot deeper than that. It really shifted things in a very transformational way for me.
When I started working with Greg, I felt like I was being pulled in two different directions because the business was really picking up speed, and I had lots of inquiries coming in. Things were really, really good, and I could see this huge growth potential, and at the same time, I was really tired. I felt like everything inside of me was saying, “Nikki, you need to rest.”
I wasn't really taking much time off and was feeling close to burnout. I felt like I could either say yes to all of these great inquiries and be extremely busy, which was kind of the default mode that I had been in for a really long amount of time, but also feeling extremely stressed in the process. I will say that chronic stress has probably just been something I'm very used to, to the point that I didn't really maybe even understand that it was present to the degree that it was. Versus kind of slowing down and maybe not bringing in the same amount of revenue.
So there was this sense of panic or scarcity mindset around it. I didn't feel like I could give myself permission to slow down. I didn't feel like it was as simple as, “Nikki, just raise your prices.” I've got that advice in the past, and that's just one piece of it.
What was the experience like?
In the beginning, my work with Greg was about some habits that I needed to integrate into my daily working life and my week's work and my month's work. That really shifted the needle. For example, I hadn't really been spending a lot of time on my business. I'd been in my business really focused on clients and people pleasing, which I didn't even realize before I worked with Greg that I was consistently doing at the expense of myself.
And then, as we began working together more and more, we began talking about mindset. I'm somebody that just wants to take action and do, do, do. I almost didn't have time for that stuff, but it actually ended up being some of the most transformational work.
I fondly remember one of our sessions where I just had this revelation, based on some of the questions and things that Greg was suggesting, that have literally changed the game for me. I am showing up to my business already completely differently, and it's remarkable to me how things have turned around in such a short space of time.
What specific results have you achieved?
Last year, when I was really ramping up the new business, I felt like I was massively undercharging and taking way too long with different projects. Now:
✅ I'm only working with the right clients. I'm not afraid to say no to the wrong clients. It's kind of silly to me now to think about the fact that I was scared of saying no to clients and turning them away.
✅ I've tripled my prices based on some of the client contracts I sent out last year, and I'm only working with a couple of clients a month, which is just like that was a goal of mine. And I said that quite early on in working with Greg, but I didn't actually think that that would be possible for me.
✅ And suddenly I freed up all this extra revenue and budget for marketing activities and peace of mind. I had a very relaxed week this week where I didn't feel like I had to work till 3 a.m. to meet a deadline, and I just was kind of like, “What am I going to spend my time on this week?”
And that's literally where I wanted to get to. So that's just testament to the fact that working with Greg really does shift things in a really meaningful way, and it happens quickly, which is really exciting.
Would you recommend working with Greg?
I have had Greg on my radar for years and years. I've always been impressed with him ever since I saw him speak during a workshop. I knew that if I was going to hire a coach, he would definitely be on the short list. But I kept putting it off, and I never felt like I was quite in the place to have him as part of my team or to partner with him in that capacity.
And now I can kind of laugh about that, because I think we tell ourselves that we're not ready yet when we're absolutely ready. And I had probably been ready for years, and I just didn't realize. And again, there were lots of ingrained habits, things that I was doing that have been going for like a decade.
So the fact that I could work with Greg and over the course of a few months, it would shift so much… It's like, don't waste time doing the same things that you've always been doing because you might get five years down the line and you're still running a business and it's fine enough. But it's not going to be at that level that you want it to be unless you get some of Greg's insights and start to make some of those really key shifts.
